Good Content

Image
Lately, I've been involved with a lot of 'bread and butter' talk. And in truth, I've been contemplative about it. On my 25th birthday, I resolved to be gracious in my speech, but along the way, I drifted. Well, thank God I outlined my resolutions and cautious enough to hold myself accountable whenever I go contrary to the aforementioned. Anchor Scripture:  {Proverbs 10:19} "When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable but he who restrains his lips is wise.'' Words or speeches with good contents are mind-lifting while bad/shallow/baseless contents are mind-drenching. Nothing good comes out of the latter. More so, loose talkers are never accorded with respect. Filtering/processing our spoken words helps in the edification of our spiritual, moral, and psychological lives. Good talks creates a healthy atmosphere for exploits in every sphere. If your flaw(s) includes projecting negativity or engaging in empty talks hence leading to an ...

Lead Us Not Into Temptation!

Image
Whether we are the tempter or the temptee, at some point in our lives, we'll fall deeply into temptation. Anchor Scripture: { Mathew 6:13 } "And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one." Jesus in His profound wisdom gave us a template for prayer. He incorporated "Temptation" into it. *Kindly peep 1 Corinthians 10:13 to understand why He did so. Even Jesus in all His glory was tempted. The account of all His temptation escapade on earth were not recorded in the Bible asides the account between Him and the devil at the Mountain of Temptation- Mathew 4:1-11 *I mean, Jesus lived for 33 years and was a good looking man when he took the form of ''natural'' flesh. #Thinking out loud How do I know He was good looking? The linen cloth which Veronica dabbed his bloody face with was a proof. Subsequently, Jesus' image that appeared on the handkerchief was the model that served artistes who drew Him. According to El...

Just Because You Can't...

Image
First off, Just because you can't doesn't mean others can't. Second off, just because you're trash doesn't mean you can't do great things Third off, Just because you're good doesn't mean everyone will like you. We live in a world filled with diverse personalities. These set of people are unique in their uniqueness. It is an unruly behaviour to choke people with your ideology/perceptive. In the same vain, it is okay to persuade them into reasoning with your line of thoughts. But if it doesn't work, free it! Just term it "Honest Disagreement''. *I learnt the terminology from the Bible. Permit me to infuse some natural illustrations... - Just because you can't abstain from sex and other shades of addiction doesn't mean other can't - Just because you can't establish a mutual relationship with the opposite sex without "catching feelings'' doesn't mean others can't - Just because you make p...

The Burning Bush

Image
Most of us don't notice the presence of God even when it is stuck in our faces. Anchor Scripture: { Exodus 3:2-4 } ''And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, ' I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.'' So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look , God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, 'Moses, Moses!'  And he said, "Here I am.'' It was only when Moses turned to inquire (about the marvelous sight) that God called him by his name, introduced Himself to him, and dished out further instructions. God will never force Himself down our throats except in special cases. Lately, I've not been spending quality time with God as I used to and it's been taking a toll on me. The void has been taunting. And today, as I reac...

WRITING...

Image
The faintest ink is better than human memory - Chinese Proverb  Human memory may fail, but a written piece would never fail - E.Hillz A wise man once said, when your vision moves from thoughts to paper, it becomes alive and achievable. Writing is the oldest form of speech presentation. Ever wondered why God did not resort to giving Moses the Ten Commandments verbally but took out time to inscribe them with his hands on a tablet? This He (God) did a second time after Moses angrily destroyed the first. *This confirms the importance of writing. Writing on a tablet is a unique skill possessed by craftsmen. This accrues God with the title; "Craftsman of all craftsmen.'' If you're a writer, you're not only made of the image of God, you possess His dominant trait: Craftsmanship. Anchor Scripture: Habakkuk 2:2 "Then the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it." Verbal communication i...

AIR

Image
Can you see it? No, you can't... Can you feel it? Yes, you can. Air is an invisible gaseous substance surrounding the earth, particularly a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen. Air is synonymous to the word "Breath". Anchor Scripture: Genesis 2:7 "And the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostril the breath of life (air); and man became a living soul.' Dating back to the creation story, ever since God breathed ''air'' into Adam and Eve, humans have remained a shareholder. Air sustains every living creature resident on the surface of the earth. Interestingly, some non-living things (equipment) are benefactors. *Radio/TV transmitters receive signals from air. Sadly, some pay dearly for air. If you're able to access air on a platter without any obstruction, then you're more advantaged than you thought you were. Air is life. Air sustains. Air is the premise for a future we hope for. Thank ...

Whop! Whop!! Birthday Rants?

Image
I remember crying at the early hours of her birthday. Not because I remembered the pains she bore until her death (that always tears me up) but because I really did miss her. Swiping back and forth the pictures, paying more attention to the picture of the pink ankara dress she made for me, that I found soothing. We were standing side by side, smiling. Life seemed promising. I didn't mourn for too long, I channeled the energy to celebrating her life instead. I dodged the bullet. I was good. I was fine. I was editing a life project, critically analyzing life in between. "Puff of air, puff of air..." The only thought that resonated. Amidst the hustle and tussle, nobody will get out alive? Mtcheecheeew, I involuntarily made an outstretched hiss. The next day came, it was a long day. From trying to make a little money earlier in the day, on to attending church proper and then the meeting thereafter. I was fatigued. I soon returned home, unwinding through social m...
