When Last Did You Pray For A Naomi?

                                 Ruth and Naomi

Naomi was married to Elimelech who hailed from Judah but left home to live in the country of Moab in search of greener pastures. Naomi had two sons named Mahlon and Kilion.

Elimelech died leaving Naomi widowed, and as if that wasn't enough, her two sons died leaving her lonely and entirely heart broken. She had two daughters-in-law named Orpah and Ruth who were wives of her late sons.

Her daughters-in-law loved her greatly and willfully stayed by her side. The pain became unbearable for Naomi to handle so she decided to return back to her home-country, Judah, her daughters-in-law insisted on accompanying her but she pleaded with them to stay back, re-marry and start a new life since they were still young. Well, Orpah eventually succumbed to her plea but Ruth held on stubbornly and said, "Don't force me to leave you; where you go I go; and where you live, I'll live. Your people are my people, your God is my god; where you die, I'll die, and that's where I'll be buried, so help me God- not even death itself is going to come between us!''

From the  above statement made by Ruth, she displayed a rare type of unconditional love and God richly paid her.

Life wasn't so rosy when herself and mother-in-law(Naomi) returned to Judah, but like God always does, He shows up! Boaz who was a very rich and prominent man at the time noticed her(Ruth), and to sum it all, he was related to Naomi.

Boaz began to shower Ruth with numerous preferential treatment whenever she went gleaning, Ruth gushed to Naomi about it and Naomi interceded in the situation, showing Ruth the right path to tread which ultimately won the heart of Boaz.

Boaz eventually married Ruth, and by that singular act, he inherited all that belonged to his late relative Elimelech which included Naomi, thereby wiping the tears and agony from the face of Naomi forever. Boaz and Ruth bore a son named Obed who was popularly called "Naomi's baby boy" by the neighbourhood because of the way she went about cuddling him, cooing over him and waiting on him hand and foot.

It will interest you to know that David and Jesus successfully came from the descent of Ruth and Boaz!

Naomi made the way for Ruth, true, but the unconditional-sacrificial-love displayed by Ruth made her genuinely earn whatever good that was bestowed upon her.
